The Best Luxury Hotel Suites in the World 2018: My Top 10 Personal Favourite Experiences

Staying in hotels is not only a huge passion of mine, but something that has over the years turned into more of a hobby. No longer are hotels simply a place to lay your head – but instead they’re here to create memories, are the destinations for honeymoons, a place to divulge in and of course to share our experiences on social media (mostly to make our friends jealous though none of us really admit it). So with my 2018 already starting so well, I wanted to share with you my top 10 luxury hotel suites from across the world. These are the hotel suites I’ve stayed in (apart from one special suite), fallen in love with and would love to return back to again someday soon.

1. Atlantis by Giardino, Zurich, Switzerland

There was no question about what hotel suite would be my number one choice and it had to be the royal suite at Atlantis by Giardino in Zurich, Switzerland. The only suite in this list I’ve not stayed at, but simply had a tour of during my stay in an equally lovely (but alot smaller room) here. Measuring a grand total of 21,000 sqft, this is right now the largest hotel suite in Europe and what a magnificent place it was. The taps, the bath, the chairs – everything is either solid gold, or smothered in gold leaf. The terrace wraps around the entire suite, has its own dedicated lift to the Michelin starred restaurant and a private elevator to the car park. This is as private as it comes. 2. The Gritti Palace Hotel, Venice, Italy

Next up was a hotel suite I’ve just recently returned from and which blew me away. My photos really don’t show off its full extensive size, but I can assure you that everything about it was not only jaw-droppingly beautifully, but also world-class. This was of course the John Ruskin suite at the Gritti Palace in Venice. A lounge like no other, a bedroom so decadent you’ll think you were in heaven and two bathrooms – both floor to ceiling in Venetian marble. 3. Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, Maldives, Indian Ocean

For sheer uniqueness, my number three favourite hotel suite surely has to be this luxury water villa at Shangri-la Villingili in the Maldives. When we first arrived into this room we were simply blown away and for the end of our time in the Maldives it made such a lasting impression. Those turquoise blue waters from our back door, a bathroom of dreams with an outdoor shower to bask in the midday sun and with some of the most amazing sun sets I’ve ever come across. 4. Pale Hall Hotel, Wales, UK

A hotel which is so close to my heart and has already created so many memories is the wonderful Pale Hall Hotel in Wales. We didn’t actually book this suite originally, but were given a cheeky upgrade and impressive wasn’t even the word to describe it. The Churchill Suite, with its magnificent vaulted ceiling and stained glass roof is as exquisite as a suite can get. Behind a secret door you can discover a beautiful marble-lined bathroom where a copper and zinc bath awaits for pure relaxation. The suite is named for Sir Winston Churchill who was once an occasional guest at Palé Hall during the 1950s. 5. Jumeirah Carlton Tower, London, UK

Living in Chelsea, it’s not often I can stay we staycation so close to home but in the past couple of weeks of writing this article, we had the pleasure of staying at the five-star Jumeirah Carlton Tower hotel in Knightsbridge, just off Sloane Street. Checking into a rather fitting Chelsea Suite we couldn’t help but fall in love with this suite with magnificent views across Chelsea and Belgravia. It also has one hell of a bathroom. 6. Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa, West Sussex, UK

One style of hotel I have a soft spot for is those with a story to tell, or one riddled with history and that is most certainly Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa in Climping. We stayed in the hotels stop suite, Baylies and it oozes history – but not as you might know it and especially so when it comes to age. I’m going to leave that piece of information for you to discover yourself. A four-poster bed, welcome Champagne and twin bath tubs. You won’t ever want to leave. 7. Shangri-La Hotel Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Heading across to the UAE, we really loved our suite stay at the heavenly Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri in Abu Dhabi. We were staying in the executive suite which for a single night offered more space and views then we could have ever needed. With not one, but two private balconies which overlooked the majestic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. A marble & mosaic bathroom with rain shower and large bath tub, grand living room area which can be closed off from the master bedroom and access to the Horizon Club Lounge meant there are so many reasons why we loved our stay here. 8. Whatley Manor Hotel, Cotswolds, UK

Located in the main building of Whatley Manor, the Grand Suite spans the second floor of the second floor of the hotel and is the perfect retreat for honeymooners or those looking to spoil a loved one. As you enter the room you’re greeted by a rather lovely lounge area which curls around into yet another living area and the bedroom towards the end reveals a second small bathroom. The main spectacle for me was the master bathroom. A luxurious bathroom with a stand alone bath designed by Philippe Stark, gorgeous exposed wooden beams and L’Occitane products to create your own in-room spa experience. 9. Sopwell House Hotel, Hertfordshire, UK

Perhaps not the biggest hotel suite, but one which offers more than others in different aspects is the mews suites at Sopwell House in St Albans. Loved by celebrities and premier league football players, you may even rub shoulders in the communal hydropool with some of the worlds biggest sports stars. We stayed in the Primrose Suite, which as well as offering a communal hydropool for all those staying in one of these suites, one can indulge in their very own private hot tub in a secluded terrace. 10. Hartwell House Hotel, Buckinghamshire, UK

Last, but certainly not least was a hotel suite which has always stayed in my mind. Hartwell House Hotel is located in Buckinghamshire and both the hotel (and our suite) is stepped in history. We stayed in the Duchesse d’angouleme Room (aka Marie Thérèse of France) who was the eldest child of King Louis XVI of France and the one and only, Marie Antoinette. The house itself was once court to both then the exiled King of France, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette between 1809-1814. Fresh fruit and home-made biscuits were in the room on arrival, along with Floris spa products. Downsides to the room – we couldn’t really find one. Our bed was incredibly comfy and the views looking out over the lawn were magical, with window seats large enough to prop up against with a book and glass of wine.
