Afternoon Tea at Dalloway Terrace: A Bloggers Delight in Bloomsbury

I realised the other week that I’ve actually not enjoyed afternoon tea at all this year. It’s something I completely fell in love with last year and probably ate far too many of them. But my hunger for afternoon tea is back and so is the unlimited Champagne offerings so many of them pair alongside. With all that in mind I was so happy when I received an email from Dalloway Terrace who were arranging a bloggers afternoon tea hosted by Angie from Silverspoon London.

If you’ve not been to Dalloway Terrace before then you should. It’s a rather glamorous affair and has some of the best alfresco seating in London with cinema nights planned on those warm starry nights. Joining the tea that afternoon was some other lovely bloggers such as Lauren from The Lifestyle Diaries, Katie and Ben, Emma from Adventures of a London Kiwi and the lovely Mina from King’s Road Rocks. A bunch of people I really haven’t seen for some time so it was great to finally catch up.

Being the first blogger to arrive per usual to just about any event, we started with a glass of Perrier-Jouët whilst waiting for everyone to arrive. All in the name of research of course.

Once everyone arrived, so did the the main spectacle – an afternoon tea of dreams and a pouring of the new Perrier-Jouët Blanc de Blanc. Interestingly this blanc de blanc is the Champagne house’s first new cuvée to be launched in 20 years. With delicate floral aromas and lemony palate it really was the perfect pairing for our afternoon tea.

There’s always talk of exactly how an afternoon tea should be eaten, which tier should come first and how you should top your scones-  but personally I say eat it how and when you like. Though with that being said I still always love to start with the sandwiches to ignite the taste buds. Clarence Court egg and cress, smoked salmon and cream cheese, confit chicken & tomato and my favourite of Roquefort cheese with cucumber.

And in true Foodaholic fashion I left those warm scones waiting and delved into my favourite part – the cakes! Everything was absolutely beautiful and this really was patisserie perfection. Soft pistachio and lime financier, bramley apple & vanilla seed creme brulee, chocolate & caramelised pecan slice and mango and passionfruit dome. Everything was very satisfying and very well crafted.

Scones were as light and fluffy as we’d hoped for too. A choice of freshly baked plain or sultana buttermilk scone, as well as some Devonshire clotted cream and homemade preserves for spreading.

If there wasn’t enough food already a plate of Guinness bread topped with smoked salmon arrived. A lovely little treat, especially when washed down with another glass of  mouth-watering Perrier-Jouët.

We finished with a cheeky nightcap in the bar downstairs after, feeling very full and very merry. I really do love Dalloway Terrace and while it’s an absolutely stunning place to sit outside in the Summer, it’s just as cosy in the Winter. I can’t wait to come back very soon and hopefully for a bloggers repeat next year!
