Fellini Review – A Taste of Italy on Draycott Avenue, SW3

Nestled away on the elegant Draycott Avenue in the heart of Chelsea, Fellini is the latest Italian restaurant to grace London’s vibrant dining scene. With a name paying homage to the famed Italian filmmaker, it’s fitting that the restaurant delivers a dining experience that feels almost cinematic — full of rich flavours, walls adorned with movie icons, and a warm, lively atmosphere that draws you in from the moment you arrive.

Warm lighting, chic décor, and the gentle hum of conversation create an ambiance that is modern, but still authentically Italian. The staff welcomed us with genuine hospitality and made us feel like regulars, despite it being our first visit. We were seated promptly, and before long, we were sipping on expertly crafted Negronis, the quintessential Italian aperitivo (also the best drink in the world in my opinion!). Bitter yet balanced, this cocktail had just the right amount of sweetness from the vermouth and a punch of bitterness from the Campari, with a garnish of orange peel. It set the perfect tone for what was to follow.

For starters, we opted for the Beetroot Carpaccio, a colourful medley of thinly sliced beetroot, topped with peppery rocket, creamy goat’s cheese, and crunchy walnuts. The combination was both refreshing and satisfying, with each bite offering a perfect blend of earthy, tangy, and nutty flavours.

Alongside this, we indulged in the Burrata, a delicate mound of creamy cheese paired with heirloom tomato wedges, fresh rocket, and fragrant basil. The burrata was decadently smooth, while the tomatoes added a burst of sweetness, all brought together by a drizzle of balsamic dressing.

Moving on to the main courses, I couldn’t resist trying the Ravioli Fellini — I can never quite resist the temptation of stuffed pasta. The ravioli, delicately filled with ricotta and spinach, was beautifully perfectly cooked and handmade. Dressed in a light butter and sage sauce, each bite was rich yet perfectly balanced, the subtle sweetness of the ricotta complemented by the fragrant sage. Plus a generous sprinkling of aged Parmesan

My dining companion opted for the Grilled Seabass, and it did not disappoint. The fish was expertly charred, with a crispy skin giving way to tender, flaky flesh. It was served with perfectly roasted baby potatoes and some broccoli with chilli that added a nice touch of colour to the plate and a hint of spice.

No Italian meal would be complete without dessert, and at Fellini, their signature Tiramisu is an absolute must-try. The layers of espresso-soaked sponge, mascarpone, and cocoa were beautifully soft, creating a melt-in-the-mouth experience that was both light and indulgent. The coffee flavour was pronounced but not overpowering, perfectly balanced by the creaminess of the mascarpone. It was a dessert that felt like a true celebration of Italian tradition — comforting, classic, and undeniably delicious.

Fellini is more than just another Italian restaurant; it’s an experience. From the warm and attentive service to the expertly prepared dishes, it’s clear that the team behind Fellini is passionate about delivering authentic Italian flavours with a touch of modern elegance. Whether you’re a lover of Italian cuisine or simply looking for a new culinary gem in London, Fellini is well worth a visit.
