Wembley is the UK’s largest stadium and music venue. It is home to the England national football team, played occasional host to the World Cup and UEFA, as well as the FA Cup final since 1923. World renowned musicians, from Bon Jovi to Eminem, have also performed to crowds of hundreds of thousands of people at Wembley. The stadium even hosted the 2012 Olympics.
Football is the most popular sport in the UK, both for viewing and for betting. Bookies offer markets on most games, and sites offer football tips for bets and accas. Wembley Stadium tours are a football fan’s haven, and great for pop concert fans too.
You might be happy to know then, that you can take a tour around Wembley Stadium and see behind the scenes, as well as walk on the pitch where the country’s football greats won the 1966 World Cup. There are two guided tours available.
The original stadium itself dates back to 1923, though it was demolished in 2003 and rebuilt at a cost of over £700 million, eventually reopening its doors in 2007. The stadium tour dates back to 1978, so it’s a well established part of the history of the place, and is award winning for its expert guides and interesting experience.
The Basic Tour
The basic tour lasts around 75 minutes and costs £19 for an adult. You can see the changing rooms normally reserved for the players, walk through the tunnels onto the pitch, climb the 107 steps to the Royal Box, see the press and interview rooms, and sit in the England manager’s chair.
Along the way you will have the opportunity to check out memorabilia like David Beckham’s 1999 United jersey, Gerrard’s 2005 captain’s armband, and an entire exhibition on the history of the FA. If you want, you can lift the FA Cup and have a photo moment (extra cost) before checking out the gift shop for unique merchandise.
The VIP Tour
The VIP tour is for those fans who want an extra special experience and a more in-depth look at the stadium, without the crowds. Group numbers are restricted to a maximum of five people, and it is possible to get an expert guide to yourself if you are in a small group. The price is £70 for an adult.
The VIP tour also gives exclusive access to additional areas, and comes with a complimentary gift and free photo with the FA Cup.
