When people say how lucky you are to live in central London, they forget it’s just like any other city. I was born here and still after 30 years, I’m still surprised just how many times you really have to put your mind at work to think of something different to do which you haven’t done before. I found one of those unique experiences recently, high above London at Radio Rooftop – one of the city’s most exclusive bars on top of ME London Hotel.
Since December 1st 2017, ME London Hotel has unveiled a rather fabulous new winter experience on the terrace of Radio Rooftop Bar and named it – #AprèsWithAView. This ultimate alpine experience in the heart of London offers the ultimate in ski season private cable car luxury. As part of the lavish experience, guest can enjoy seasonal cocktails, champagne and dishes from an Alpine-inspired menu which will transport you straight to the slopes of Courchevel. The evening started with a glass of warm cider to get us in the festive mood.
Renowned for its impressive backdrop, Radio overlooks London’skyline, with panoramic views over iconic landmarks, such as Somerset House, The Shard, the London Eye, Big Ben and St Paul’s Cathedral. The views from the seat of your booth alone are rather stunning, looking directly down on the streets of London.
Words can’t even being to describe just how much food there was on offer when hiring out these cable cars. Large sharing platters of seasonal offerings such as truffled three-cheese fondue which smelt amazing, endless charcuterie, tartiflette dumplings and speculos biscuits. We really did feel as though we’d been transported to the Alps.
The pot of truffled three-cheese fondue was the star of the show. Rich, creamy, decadent and pairing particularly well with a few too many glasses of Champagne. It’s probably at this point where I should also apologies for my rather poor photos – but it was 7pm and rather dark.
Included as part of the cable car package, we quickly got to work on the magnum of Veuve Clicquot and bottle of Grey Goose vodka. Staff is on hand to top up your drinks throughout and best of all there’s a table packed full with mixers meaning that vodka can be put to some very good use indeed.
Once you devoured the mountains of food from the Alpine-inspired menu, dessert offers a chance to pile on a few too many more calories. Yet another fondue to share, this time filled with Valrhona chocolate, served with all of the accompaniments for dipping. Marshmallows and fresh fruits of course. Better still was the sticks of speculos biscuits which had been dipped in a bowl of delicious hazelnut mousse.
Before the party got a little too carried away and the subsequent ordering of a few too many more Champagne magnums, we tucked into these delicious spiced rum eggnog cocktails served in chocolate cups. Sweet, very easy to drink and just what we wanted on such a cold winters evening.
I had such a fantastic night at this Après inspired pop-up and I highly recommend to anyone looking for a good time. This is a unique experience unlike any other you’ll find in London, including more alcohol then one can most likely drink and what felt like endless food means for the perfect night out with friends. With each ski cart having space for 10 guests, everything you see above (and more) is included for just £650 – equalling to just £65 a head. This unique experience is popping up until March next year I only hope I’ll be heading back again soon.

NB: I was invited to review. All views are as always, my own. My views are not influenced by anyone other than my own palate and slightly poor eyesight.
I do love this bar!
It looked fantastic on your insta, your review makes it sound even more amazing!
