Glitz, glamour, Champagne and beautiful people. Add them all together and you get the utterly fabulous Dalloway Terrace in Fitzrovia. A hidden restaurant & bar for those seeking a little luxury for lunch, a sun drenched terrace and delicious food. On this occasion we were enjoying one of my favourite past times, afternoon tea. A sparkling new menu offering from the Great British Bake Off 2016 winner, Candice Brown.
Enjoying this afternoon tea with a lovely group of bloggers we found our place names and ordered from an extensive selection of herbal teas. For an extra charge you can pair this three-tiered afternoon tea with a glass of chilled Perrier-Jouët Champagne. Because no meal is complete without bubbles.
In true afternoon tea etiquette we started with our selection of finger sandwiches and savoury treats. Leek & smoked haddock tarts with rich gruyère cheese, beetroot cured salmon with cucumber & dill on sourdough, chicken & chorizo with tomato chutney in granary roll and my favourite – mayonnaise and cured streaky bacon on white bread.
The scones offering was a choice of both savoury and sweet. An interesting combination of feta & courgette came with thyme clotted cream for spreading. And a sweeter version infused with orange and cardamom, served with Devonshire clotted cream and selection of homemade preserves. Both were lovely and fluffy, full of flavour and made a nice change from the usual classic and fruit versions.
My favourite tier had to be the calorific cake and sweet offerings. Melt in the mouth peanut butter and jelly profiteroles, lemon, gin and poppy-seed drizzle cake, meringue kisses with an oozing centre of passionfruit curd, finishing off with some chocolate almond & mint cake – topped with a whipped chocolate ganache.
I had such a lovely evening returning back to this fantastic restaurant and sampling the brand new afternoon tea from Great British Bake Off winner, Candice Brown. While I’ve enjoyed afternoon tea here many times before, Candice’s offering was a lovely change and it was exciting to try sample her gorgeous cake recipes. Book a table, drink lots of Champagne and divulge in an utterly fabulous spread. You’ll have a lovely afternoon.

NB: My meal was complimentary. All views are as always, my own. My views are not influenced by anyone other than my own palate and slightly poor eyesight.
